*** WARNING: YOU MAY NOT LIKE THIS VIDEO *** :-) I get flack from both sides of the line about what I believe. So I figured if that's gonna happen, I may as well lay what I believe out here for all to see so the haters can at least have their facts straight about how wrong I am. lol. I am in no way soliciting anyone to believe the things I do. This is just me. |

mgpapas ::: Favorites The point I'm making is that the core interpretation of every religion depending on the interpreter is no different than yours. You could just as easily have exactly the same beliefs in terms of loving your fellow man and treating others as you would be treated as a Muslim, Buddhist, Christian or Jew. All religions have teachings that are generally the same (variations on the ten commandments) that they expect you to adhere to. 06-10-04 03:30:17 _____________________________________________________
mgpapas ::: Favorites Calling yourself a Christian however means you not only follow the teachings but accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior, that belief is an absolute requirement of Christianity. Calling yourself Christian by default is saying "I know better than you and my religion is your only chance at salvation". Obviously that will offend people and is counterproductive if your goal is to love and be loved by your fellow man. 06-10-04 03:30:27 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites First of all, it doesn't show much compassion for people of different belief than you to compare God to a piece of shit like Hitler. Second I don't distance myself from God. Not at all. I question certain elements of the Bible. A book that God did not write. 06-10-04 13:13:28 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites I understand your perspective, but, in my opinion, giving people a different label just because it's easier to swallow doesn't do anything to cause all of us as a people to learn not to judge each other so harshly and with so little information. 06-10-04 13:15:12 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites [re:1st comment] Which is exactly the common ground we all share. 06-10-04 13:47:14 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites [re:2nd comment 1 of 2] My interperetation of the sacrifice of Jesus is somewhat different. Not everyone agrees with it. But some do. I don't believe the salvation from Jesus' sacrifice is just limited to Christians. I believe God loves the world and wanted to show that in this way by giving a sacrifice for the sins of mankind. I believe that Christians are the group of people that believe that Jesus was the son of God and they recognize that sacrifice. 06-10-04 13:48:12 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites [re:2nd comment 2 of 2] Just because someone doesn't recognize this action the same way doesn't damn them in my opinion. A person's actions and the content of their heart damn them. A child has no real concept of God or Jesus. It's just something they are told. But you never hear anyone saying that a child who is killed or dies early in life is going to hell because they never truly and honestly accepted Jesus into their heart. 06-10-04 13:48:59 _____________________________________________________

Lateralist ::: Favorites Brilliant video supe. Thank you so much for your candor, eloquence and humbleness. I identify strongly with your statement that the diversity of human belief is a very positive thing, and I feel my life is enriched by being exposed to your perspective, and the perspectives of everyone else willing to share their point of view. Though our beliefs may differ, we have nothing to fear from one another. 06-10-06 04:07:42 _____________________________________________________
mgpapas ::: Favorites Very late reply. Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't comparing those religions with hitler though the argument can be made that many more people have been killed in the name of God than hitler. I was pointing out that there are people who do see those labels that way. For many Jews for example Muslims = people who want me dead. For some muslims Jews = people who stole my homeland and killed my family. In that sense those labels can evoke just as much hatred. 06-10-20 07:56:48 _____________________________________________________ |
