puddysma ::: Favorites Religion is a function of man's attempt to understand life. Politics is a function of man's attempt to protect his society. Both probably have their origins back in the caves. They clans back then and they separate us now...unfortunately. If one CHOOSES to be separated there are a million things to use to separate us. Arrogance is one of those things and to suppose one knows and understands the fears and desires of another is arrogance. Politics and religion both thrve on fears...and arrogance. 06-10-10 12:23:31 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites Then if you do not believe that a string of random events and circumstances caused the beginings of what has become the human race, then what do you think did? hope to hear from you soon :-) 06-10-10 15:42:44 _____________________________________________________
abortedsoul ::: Favorites Unlike many others, I don't just make up answers 38. I don't just grab something that happens to be floating along at the time. Here is what I do know: Life is wonderous and engrossing to me and many others. Humans are in many ways very distinct from animals. Animals have been around, and have been evolving, for quite some time. 06-10-10 18:48:08 _____________________________________________________
abortedsoul ::: Favorites Life is complicated, as is the physical world, and the chaos is ever-increasing in scale. Thermodynamics leads me to lean towards a singularity at the beginning, but I'm not going to, in my naked uncertainty, merely find the nearest available banner that I can perscribe to. I believe that true answers on complicated questions take patience and dilligent study, which is something this world occasionally seems to have forgotten. 06-10-10 18:50:46 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites Just so I understand. You don't necessarily agree with the theory of evolution in that we began in the primodial stew which eventually formed into animals, including early primates, and that over the course of many years of evolution that some of those primates evolved into what has now become the human race? You have an emmense respect for life and it's complexity and think that there is currently not enough evidence to viably support any currently public theory. Am I correct? 06-10-10 19:07:23 _____________________________________________________
abortedsoul ::: Favorites Micro evolution has been proven, as concrete fact. To argue with this is folly. Now, evolution on a large scale has been proven also, beyond any logical doubts. Now, the mechanisms in evolution are also supported heavily by objective, obvious evidence. It happened; of that there is no question. 06-10-11 06:50:42 _____________________________________________________
mdk550 ::: Favorites Nice video, I agree with a lot of it. But you have mentioned how some super-religious/concervative people are close-minded and won't befriend or look at the other side. Thats true to an extent. I think that's the minority you see on television...I consider myself very religious and I believe it is the most important thing in my life, yet almost all my friends are of different faiths. And I think its like that for most people...I think we, as humans, select out the extreme minority. 06-10-17 22:19:47 _____________________________________________________
mdk550 ::: Favorites examples of what i was saying- We see in Iran all these crazy protests with burning flags and people commiting barbaric actions on the media. Yet 81% of Iran wishes for better relations with the USA and over 85% wishes for a regime change. 06-10-17 22:29:30 _____________________________________________________
mdk550 ::: Favorites continued---We see the people who destroyed churches as a result of the pope's comments, but we dont hear about the Islamic orginization "CAIR" which raised money to fix those churches. We see palestinian suicide bombers, yet not the 100,000 palestinian and israeli women marching down the street together with a sign that said "PEACE, SHALOM, SALAM" 06-10-17 22:29:49 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites Exactly right, and a point that is very important. On all sides, the extremists get more press because they are louder and help the sale of fear through the media. Thank you for helping make this point :-) 06-10-17 23:04:47 _____________________________________________________ |
