1938superman ::: Favorites Simple and basic. Despite all our differences, that really is the heart of what we need to do, I think. And those who can't even do something as simple as that. Those are the people who are the real danger in the world, in my opinion. Especially those who violate that rule more extremely than others. 06-10-13 19:41:55 _____________________________________________________
valmorian ::: Favorites Believing in anything on pure faith, unjustified belief, is deluded. Don't fool yourself into thinking you are less deluded just because your faith based beliefs don't involve forcing others. 06-10-13 19:43:51 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites Well, I imagine that I will never seem less deluded to you. Good thing that's not my goal. lol :-). My only goal is to try to be more loving, caring and generous every day. That's it. And when I'm done here I'll hopefully be able to look back and smile that I lived my life in a way that, even if in just some small way, was positive in a world in desperate need of positivity. Thank you for the conversation. I wish you well. 06-10-13 19:58:02 _____________________________________________________
valmorian ::: Favorites No. Interpretation of a painting is subjective, but there is a real, objective world out there, and to believe we can discover truth about it through faith is delusional. 06-10-14 13:03:56 _____________________________________________________
1938superman ::: Favorites Well thank you for your perspective on the matter. :-) 06-10-14 15:02:16 _____________________________________________________
abortedsoul ::: Favorites I hate accidentally deleting people's comments; fucking utube. 06-10-20 07:27:01 _____________________________________________________
CyberdukeDave ::: Favorites An example of why I would "attack religion"... Church and state is the problem for me. And this can work the other way around too... I would not like the people making decisions to honestly believe the bible is the unequivocal word of God. That the earth was made in 6 days and there is no point in investing in space exploration or curing cancer because it's all gods plan and the end of the world is coming soon anyway... 06-10-24 19:33:35 _____________________________________________________
CyberdukeDave ::: Favorites Then again if you did believe the bible is the unequivocal word of God you wouldn't want your government wasting resources on things that are not going to matter. Like space exploration and medical research (if its gods will, don't try to change it). (There are people like this, and they are in positions of power) So then... is this not just a flaw in the way we govern ourselves, an inherent conflict of interests that humans in a position of power will have. 06-10-24 19:35:08 _____________________________________________________
CyberdukeDave ::: Favorites The actual personal belief is not an issue for me, we all make sense of the world in the best way we can based on the information available to us at the time. People tend to polarise issues. In a sense I would not group your beliefs in a group I would take issue with, but that wouldn't stop you placing your own beliefs (aligning yourself with a group) in my "firing line" and taking offence. 06-10-24 19:35:33 _____________________________________________________
friendlyagnostic ::: Favorites you just can't stand the fact that he's a decent guy, can you? 07-07-11 00:04:53 _____________________________________________________ |
