Description:

Produced in the mid 1970s, The Way It Was TV program brought together sports heroes for interviews and film commentary. The show seems pretty low tech by today's standards, plus the clothes, studio, and look of the program is pure disco era. However, the material is invaluable now, and perhaps the only time these now legendary boxers were ever recorded together while reviewing their fight. Joe Louis is as gracious and dignified as ever. Tony Galento is very much immodest himself, and offers compliments only begrudgingly. Still the warrior bond is evident as the even the fiercest of rivals eventually find mutual pride and respect. I wanted to show the entire program, so here it is in three parts. --Rotoscope

I should do nothing of the sort. Wow, it has taken you a full month to come up with that lame reply?

Movie: You do not know the difference between insulting and telling someone to educate themself before discussing boxing. You know nothing about boxing and YOU SHOULD EDUCATE yourself before you make comments on boxing.

burtwiseman, you're showing you are either a child, or an adult ignorant man, telling people they ought to be re-educated is not a ways of discussing anything with anybody. only a child or ignorant man would choose to insult people who disagree with them. you're not convincing anybody of your opinions, either.

Loutyr: Do not understand your posts??? Louis faced top notch fighers of his day. Stronger opponents than Ali fought. I think Billy Conn could have whipped Ali easily when they were the same age.

Movie: I talked to Louis years ago when he was a greeter in Vegas. Louis was a class act guy and he told me that Galento was the only fighter he hated even up to now. He would never bad mouth any past opponent. Movie, please go back and get re-educated.

burtwiseman, I am an educated man and anyone can see from this film that Galento respected Louis. There's a big difference between trying to psych out an opponent, using whatever means necessary, and actually MEANING it. Galento was proud of himself having done well against Louis, he succeeded in getting Louis mad at him, Joe also said now they've been friends for a long time, so what's your problem?

But Ali faced all the best of his day. The guys Louis faced were gone when Cassius Clay came along but they are certainly 1 and 2 whichever way you slice it!

Would you call someone human, if he called your wife and said dirty things to her on the telephone? Would you call someone human if they called your mother racist names. Get yourself educated before you make those stupid statements TINTINESK

loutyr: Your wrong LOUIS was the greatest. Ali never faced fighters like Louis did. Galento, Godoy, Farr, Conn, Baer, Pastor etc.
